I, Vicki Shih, grew up in the farm town of Oxnard, CA. I moved to Los Angeles for undergraduate, and then the San Francisco bay area for graduate school. I'm not an expert in savings, but I like to try when I can. Growing up, the norm was all home cooked meals. Potatoes were 10 pounds for a dollar, not 99 cents per pound like it is in the city. To this day, I still live a simple life, with very few extravagant things. I don't put myself on a budget. I just live within my means.
